Your income is what makes everything else possible.
Your ability to earn pays your mortgage, your debts, your savings and your day-to-day life. Disability insurance exists to protect that ability if illness or injury keeps you from practising. Without a policy in your own name, nothing steps in.
If I could not practise for six months, what money would still come in?
What to look at when comparing policies
- How much you would receive each month.
- How disability is defined, and how that definition applies to your practice.
- How long you would wait before benefits start, and how long they would last.
- Exclusions, limitations, and whether you can increase your coverage later.
- Whether the premium is guaranteed, and whether the coverage moves with you.
Your age and your health shape the terms you will be offered. Looking at your options while you are healthy keeps more of them open.
